James Futral 10/17/1940 - 6/19/2014 James Franklin (Jim) Futral of Newnan, Georgia passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, June 19th, 2014. A memorial service is planned for Monday, June 23rd at 2:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson Street in Newnan. Reverend Dee Shelnutt will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22nd from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Jim was born on October 17, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia to Elmer and Edna Futral. He was a graduate of Hapeville High School (class of 1958) and worked for 34 years at Delta Airlines before retirement. He was an avid golfer and Georgia Tech football fan. He also coached baseball and football. Mr. Futral is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 52 1/2 years, Linda Thomas Futral and their 3 precious pups (Baxter, Rosie, and Hank); children Dawn (Kevin) Cochran of Moreland, Tommy (Alicia) Futral of Senoia, and Steve (Heather) Futral of Sharpsburg. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Other family include his sister Ginny (David) Redding and aunt Betty Futral Bishop. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jims memory to the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society or St. Judes Children Hospital. Online condolences may be expressed at mckoon.
