James Schmid and I have been working on this project for about six months now. Its a staged song cycle that adapts classic fairy tales and translates the original meaning of the tales into a modern-pop context. With your contribution, the show will have several performances later this month, and filmed for distribution and incorporation in the curriculum of over 75 high schools around the country, a number which is steadily growing. Shattering the Mirror has the potential to change these young students lives. Were talking about kids who have never been able to experience the opera, or a cabaret show, or a musical, can now get familiarized with these dark tales of morality through an enjoyable musical experience. The music is stylistically diverse, ranging from Mozartian Arias to Electro-acoustic chamber music to show-stopping ballads. I have a great deal of love for the show and Im confident that you will too! BUT- if we dont raise $2,000 before next Friday, then THE SHOW WILL NOT EXIST. I dont think its fair to keep these kids from experiencing the show. I want the show to inspire creativity (who knows, perhaps one of the kids watching this could grow up to be the next Beyoncé.) Because this is a world premiere, there are so many creative forces driving the show. From poet, to conductor, to director, to costume designing and light designing. Even the singers are asked to bring in their input, since these pieces were written to feet their voice like a glass slipper. Anyways, please give what you can. Weve got incentives listed on the kick starter, but I think the real incentive is knowing your dollar helped inspire a student in need.
