Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Edward Annan has relinquished his position, in a letter to President John Dramani Mahama. Mr Annan’s action comes barely 24 hours after President Mahama dismissed the Acting Chief Administrator of the Hospital, Reverend Albert Okpoti Botchway, and named Dr Gilbert Buckle as new Chief Administrator. Mr Annan communicated his availability to the Minister of Health, the new Chief Adminsitrator and his successor over “any clarifications they may need”. “I thank late President Evans Atta Mills and yourself for the privilege of serving as Chairman of this board,” he stated. He drew the attention of the president to financial and infrastructural challenges at the Hospital, pointing out that those are as a result of a “mafia” of officers amassing wealth at the expense of the Hospital. “If you manage to clean up Korle Bu during your presidency, you would have done a great service to the nation.” Mr Annan called for the National Security Coordinator to help the president in exposing that mafia at the Hospital.
