James Update: Today was a busy day for James. He had several physicians in today to evaluate him and try to figure out what is going on. The infectious disease physician ordered a lot of labs and also ordered blood cultures today. The cardiology physician was planning on doing a pericardialcentesis (remove fluid from around the heart) but the interventional radiologist felt that where the fluid has accumulated this would be too high risk. James got a little over a liter of fluid through his IV and his lower legs and feet puffed up like balloons. So me being the nurse my main concern is that this is heart related. His heart function was normal yesterday but the nurse read something on it about the mitral valve that my mom and I did not understand so we will be asking about it in the morning. James is beyond ready to go home but of course he has me next to him being his voice of reason. I dont think he likes that so much! haha! So no real answers to what is going on but hopefully in the next 48 hours we may know something. Thanks again for the outpouring love and concern for James! It really does help get you through the tough times!
