James our new intern has arrived at Governors Camp and just posted his first update: Awesome first full day in the Mara - went out on a drive early this morning with Nelis, and with James (it seems Im one of many at Governors!) as our guide. Within about 5 minutes of leaving the gate we ran into Scar and Morani walking along the track together - we had suspicions they would be there having heard them calling very near camp last night, but it was great to find them so fast. We then moved onto the two breakaways with their 7 tiny cubs (3 + 4) between them. One of the four cubs was being particularly cheeky and repeatedly running away from his mum, forcing her to retrieve him each time - very funny to watch. Next we caught up with the majority of the Marsh Pride, including Sienna and her cubs, Bibi, and Red. A couple more lionesses arrived during that time, waking the rest of the group up, playing with them, and grooming them. We then headed back to the two young sisters that wed seen playing around briefly earlier and were entertained by some hilariously playful behavior from them, before heading back to camp via Scar and Morani, lying on a mound, being carefully watched by four giraffe, who arguably polished off the shot of the day!
