Jamie Cattanach, Savannah Tucker, and Phil Grech may find this interesting. A Harvard/UNC Chapel Hill study from 2012 suggests that students living in more pleasant climates are more likely to engage in heuristic thinking, are drastically less productive, sleep in more often, and tend to value academia less than those who study in colder, harsher environments. These findings could explain so many of the frustrations I experienced as a student living in Florida for the first two decades of my life! It could also be the excuse for laziness we were all desperate to find in undergrad.
