Jamie Munn - Vocal Specialist Young tenor Jamie Munn studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama) in Glasgow under the tuition of Iain Paton, spending time also at Berlin’s Universität der Künste (UdK). Whilst at the RSAMD, operatic roles included Spalanzani, Les Contes dHoffmann; Pantalon (cover), Prokofievs Lamour pour trois oranges; Platon Karatayev in the world premiere of the original version of Prokofiev’s monumental War and Peace; a collaboration with Scottish Opera, (a touching, direct portrayal - Artsdesk). He was then chosen to take part in the Russian premiere of the work in Rostov-on-Don, broadcast on Russian television. As a recitalist, Jamie has given concerts in Germany (Berlin, Munich), France, Russia, UK (Edinburgh, Glasgow, London), India, Kenya and Tanzania. He has been broadcast on BBC radio giving the first performances of re-discovered lieder by Mendelssohn, performed in the RSAMD Song Studio series and makes regular appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Oratorio work has included Haydn The Seasons (East African première); Missa in tempore belli, Puccini Gloria, Mozart Requiem, Schütz St John Passion; St Matthew Passion, Vaughan Williams Mass in g minor, Mendelssohn Elijah, the Scottish première of Howard Goodalls Every Purpose Under the Heaven, and Bernstein Chichester Psalms (BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra). He has taken part in masterclasses with artists such as Malcolm Martineau, Ann Murray, Håkan Hagegård, Robin Bowman and Richard Stokes, and is a musician with the late Lord Menuhin’s Live Music Now scheme, which takes live musical performances to all parts of Scotland. As an educationalist, Jamie has taught at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music in Nairobi, the Global Music Institute in New Delhi, is currently a Voice Specialist at the Centre of Musical Arts in Dubai. He has given workshops in voice and choral techniques across Scotland, Kenya and India, working with organisations such as the National Youth Choir of Scotland, Quarriers, Songboundand Muktangen, and he advised on the curriculum strategy of the Gateway School of Mumbai and Mewsic, a Mumbai-based NGO. In the summer of 2014, Jamie led the Scokendia Ensemble, an international project created especially for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme. It saw 30 musicians from Scotland, Kenya and India come to together to tour Scotland, playing newly commissioned music from each country.
