Jammu attack fallout Indo-Pak dialogue should not get scuttled: Omar ‘Will convene UHQ meet’ Srinagar, Sep 26: Expressing sympathy with the families of soldiers, policemen and civilians killed in Jammu militant attack, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said sacrifices offered in Jammu would go waste if dialogue process between leadership of India and Pakistan in New York is scuttled. Addressing a press conference at his Gupkar residence, Omar informed that at least 12 people including an army officer were killed in Jammu attack. “They have made their sacrifices not just to help the militants to succeed but to help peace process to be a success. They have sacrificed their lives for normalcy and peace. We should not allow the militants mission, which seems to be aimed at derailing the peace process,” Omar said. The Chief Minister said that he will convene a meeting of UHQ either today evening or tomorrow morning. “The terrorist attack which is on in Kathua and Samba, should be condemned by one and all,” Omar said. He said that it was very unfortunate that such an attack took place. “Whenever steps were taken to resolve the Kashmir issue through talks; efforts were made to derail the process before its commencement. The attack was carried out exactly 24 hours after the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh announced that he will meet Pakistan prime Minister in New York,” he said. “There is a possibility that Dr Singh may feel the pressure after this attack and cancel his plan of meeting Pakistan Prime Minister midway,” he said according to KNS reporter. The Chief Minister said that there is a need for a sustained dialogue between India and Pakistan. “We should sit with Pakistan leadership for the dialogue but convey them on their face that the infiltration should be stopped,” he said, adding that the dialogue should not be on conditional basis. “If we see the location where they have made the first contact with the forces that lies on the international border, which signifies that the militant group has infiltrated just before 14 or 24 hours,” Omar informed.
