Jan 01/15 - (Source: Environment Canada) 3:33 PM MST Thursday 01 January 2015 Snowfall warning in effect for: Brazeau Co. near Drayton Valley and Breton Co. of Wetaskiwin near Alder Flats and Winfield Co. of Wetaskiwin near Pigeon Lake Leduc Co. near Calmar and Devon Leduc Co. near Warburg Thorsby and Pigeon Lake Ponoka Co. near Crestomere Ponoka Co. near Rimbey Bluffton and Hoadley Snowfall, with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected. An upper level disturbance is moving into western Alberta from British Columbia this evening. This system is bringing heavy snow into northwestern Alberta this evening. The heavy snow will spread southeastward towards Edmonton and surrounding regions overnight. Heavy snow will taper off Friday morning in western regions and near noon further east. Total snowfall amounts in the warned regions will be around 10 to 20 centimetres. Snowfall warnings are issued when 10 or more centimetres of snow is expected within a 12 hour period. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
