Japanese live with earthquakes all their lives. There are dozens if not hundreds of small earthquakes everyday throughout Japan. Some of these tremors are so small that you may not even notice it. I experienced a strong tremor when I was up in a marine tower in Yokohama many years ago. The tower swayed but thanks to Japans stringent building code, many of Tokyos skyscrapers are strong and can withstand moderate earthquakes. However, the last big earthquake that destroyed much of Tokyo is long overdue. I believe the next big one can come anytime now. The triple whammy that hit Japans northern shores a few years ago is too near for comfort for Tokyoites. If Tokyo is hit this time, many people will die and Tokyos financial system will be put out of action and the economic implications for this region will also be bad. Perhaps it is time for the rich Japanese to relocate to a safer place like Malaysia.
