Japanese megaliths - Kofun! Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of Kofun tombs is their design. A great deal of planning and construction is required to build a tomb which has unique features that are only visible at great altitudes. Why go to all the trouble of manufacturing a massive tomb is you cannot see what it looks like, than is, unless you have some form of flying craft? Many believe that the structures were built during a much earlier period and reused when they left (or were destroyed during some cataclysm.)
