Jarod is at the hospital again tonight with Elvie, and I am home with Zinashi. Both girls are doing well tonight. I got to have some really good conversations with Zinashi as she got ready for bed tonight, and I am grateful that we are able to be there for both of our girls at this time. Elvie has figured out that hospital food is kind of gross, so my new plan is to get an extra pastry with my breakfast each morning and let her nosh on it throughout the day. Were also letting her have formula whenever she wants it; I dont really care where she gets her calories, as long as shes getting them. She is now in her new brace, and not hooked up to any wires or tubes full time except for her incision drain. This makes her way easier to move around. She still has an IV in so that she can have Zofran if she needs it, but she doesnt have to be connected to fluids all the time, and pain meds are now all oral. We are getting used to positioning her in the brace in ways that are comfortable, and she even got a little wagon ride, including a jaunt outside, today. Tomorrow (we hope), she will have an xray with her brace on to make sure its supporting her body properly for healing, and that puts us one step closer to home. Were moving right along, with Elvie exceeding our expectations, as usual. Heres hoping for a quiet night and a smooth tomorrow.
