The excitement would not let up in the second stanza as Anthony Milford burst through the middle, throwing the dummy before feeding Croker on the counter attack to make it 16-10 to Canberra after the conversion. Newcastle was level seven minutes later, with James McManus enjoying some good fortune as Canberras wingers and full-backs collided in the in-goal area. The Knights had the lead five minutes later through Tyrone Roberts, but Kurt Gidleys missed conversion proved costly as Paul Vaughan crossed for the Raiders to put the visitors 22-20 ahead. Edrick Lee iced the result with a try in the left corner one minute before the siren.
