Javier Clemente in Tripoli for talks on vacant manager - TopicsExpress

Javier Clemente in Tripoli for talks on vacant manager position Renowned football manager Javier Clemente arrived in Tripoli on Monday evening to discuss the open position to front the Libyan national football team. An impressive C.V. boasts a variety of football clubs across Europe. In 1983 he led Athletico Bilbao to the La Liga title, and has since returned to the club twice. In between his stints at Bilbao, he has managed teams including Athletico Madrid, Marseille. On an international level he has worked with Cameroon and Serbia respectively. Former coach of the Republic of Ireland Giovanni Trapattoni was rumour to be linked with Libya last week, however, Clemente’s arrival in Libya may rule out any other candidates. The position became vacant when Abdulhafid Arbich left in response to Libya’s exit of the Brazil World Cup 2014 qualifying stages earlier this month.
