Jayla went back to school today and returned in the pre-K class. She looked adorable and her sassy pose made us all think back to another four year old who loved her preschool. Jason and I laughed because Maureens excitement level about Jaylas first day would have far exceeded Jaylas reaction to it. Maureen would have wanted to have gone with me to drop her off and surely would have bounded into the office at the end of the day to greet her sister and inquire about her day. And yet, with all the excitement of new beginnings, I have to say it was still rough. Grief seems to creep in on each of us on different days. Poor Jayla understands the least of what has happened to her family, and yet she knows that despite her familys portrayal of normal, nothing is. May her sweet angel sister help her to cope and protect her from the confusion of a loss so incomprehensible.
