ORIÓ After the DDT rushes in the big planes of North America, Ferrugineous Hawk populations were reduced to a 40%.. Later, in the 90s, some foundations started breeding this very important raptor to reintroduce it on the wild.. Praerie dogs were reproducing very fast, and one of its main predator almost disapeared.. In the late 2008, I discovered Orion, a 2 years old male of this awsome Hawk in a remote place of Spain... Born in a exhibition center in Belgium and sold when chick To a private in Madrid, it broke its feathers and couldnt fly on the first year..( chairs, doors, tables, sofas, windows.. A flat wasnt the best place to breed it... ) Few ago, a trade shows raptor center buy it to exhibit on summer shows, but the Hawk was very injured and they leave it in a cage to let its feathers grew.. I decided to train it and to bring it back to the States and to release it on the land of its ancesors... After 3 months it started flying on the mountains.. Passing days and nights alone up to 2500mtrs.. Down to -15C... It get very strong and at the end of the winter started changing feathes again... Satisfied for its progress I teied to contact with people like you, native americans, non-profit orgs, environmental warriors..To properly release Orion... The hunting season started (late sept. To late february) and When planning how to introduce it to the praerie dog the worst happened... Orion, after three days in the wild, on its own, was attacked by a hunting dog and the owner bring it back to me dead..... The project was called The Eagle Point
