Jays final results from todays scan are in after some minor delays due to power outages at Childrens Hospital...thankfully, Jay was out of the scanner before we lost power. The scan gave us zero new information, neither negative nor positive. Next week Jay will have surgery to biopsy the tumor from in his liver so we can figure out what we are dealing with and develop a treatment plan. In a best case scenario, the surgeon will be able to remove the tumor in its entirety and Jay wont have any further treatment. We still have no idea if we are dealing with a new cancer that is localized to one spot, or a relapse of the system-wide disease he has had in the past....both are scary, but a relapse of cancer that we have already tried (and thus far failed) to treat would be much scarier. Jay looks amazing, better than he has ever looked. We are hopeful he will weather any new horrors with the same strength and tenacity we have come to know and love. Tomorrow is his first transplant birthday...one year since his bone marrow transplant. In a world that is fair and just, this would be the first of many birthday celebrations!
