Jeffs father, Ray Parker, died this morning. It wasnt unexpected but always a shock. Jeffs up in Santa Monica with his sister, Janet. Ray was 91. He was a veteran of WWII as a navigator flying Liberator bombers out of England.(Watch this trailer of the award winning documentary about him--and wait to see who his commanding officer was!) He was shot down and spent 14 months in a German POW camp where he was editor of the prisons underground newspaper. After the war he had a meteoric career as a comedy writer in Hollywood that sustained through out his career. Among other things he was head writer for the Art Linkletter show for at least 12 years, wrote for Red Skelton, Bob Hope and other greats. He helped me tremendously-- probably more than anyone else--in helping me become a many time published writer/author.
