For ANY of my friends considering voting for Labour in the Calderdale elections on Thursday please remember the following: The current Labour administration have continued to ignore the will of the council by continuing to charge on a number of car parks throughout the borough even though they could have suspended the charges whilst the due process is carried out. This has resulted in parents in Ripponden having to pay at least £78 per year to take their children to school if they have to drive. The current Labour administration fought vigorously (but were unsuccessful) against the proposals to spread funding across all wards by allocating £5000 per ward for community projects (they would have preferred to keep the total allocation in Halifax Wards). The Labour administration fought against proposals (unsuccessfully) to remove the subsidy of the trade union. The Labour administration fought against the removal of paid sick leave for the first three days of sickness (currently Calderdale has an average sickness rate of around 9 days per employee costing around £500,000 per year). The Conservatives managed to push through the provision of a fund of £150,000 to improve school buildings. They have a shocking track record, have total disregard for the electorate and are completely out of touch with the needs and wants of our fantastic community. I care a great deal about this amazing and diverse community and I cant stand to see a failed administration continue to ruin it. Please encourage your friends and family to vote for the only party in Calderdale who genuinely want to (and can) improve things for all of us - VOTE CONSERVATIVE!!
