Jennie continues to be a fighter. Since her December surgery, she has been able to discontinue the pain meds that she had been on around the clock since last August. All glory to God for this good news! Thank you, Lord!! Jennie continues to have short term memory and word finding issues, and some dizziness when walking. However, we are thankful that she can walk at all, that she can still talk, and that her long term memory is exceptional! Today, Jennie saw a new oncologist here in Lubbock. Jennie will need to have a port placed, and then treatment with Avastin will start next week. She will have infusions every 2 weeks. Avastin is not a chemo, but is a drug that blocks the blood supply to the tumor and starves it. Please pray that this drug will do exactly that, with none of the scary side effects that they have to tell you about. Jennie has an appointment with the surgeon who will place the port on Tuesday. I think that this appointment is a consult, and that the port will be placed a day or two after the Tuesday appointment. The doctor is reducing her steroids down from 6mg to 4mg a day. We are hoping this will give Jennie some relief from some of the side effects of being on steroids for so long. We appreciate your continued love and support. Most of all, we find comfort in knowing that so many are praying for Jennie and the family. May God Bless each one of you. We love and appreciate you all. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV)
