Jeremiah 17:8 (NIV), “He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit”. The river of life flows from God above, His streams make glad. When you have your roots deep in the Lord, and you are like a tree firmly planted by the river of life, when you trust in the Lord, and your hope and your confidence is from Him, then no matter what life throws at you, you will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. You will stay strong, for He is your strength, and His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Even when the heat of trouble comes, even when the heat of attack comes, even when the heart of the battle rages all around, even when the heart of our faith is tested, even when the heat of persecution comes, even when the heat of lack comes, even when the heat of sickness comes, we will not be moved, because our hope is in Him, our trust is in Him, and we are planted by His living waters; His river of life. In Jesus, we have an anchor that keeps the soul, steadfast and sure when the billows roll; fastened to the rock, which cannot be moved; grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love
