Jeremiah 31:29,30 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the childrens teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die FOR HIS OWN iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. We live under a different covenant, a covenant of grace. This covenant says, Whosoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved...Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13 This is an individual, personal relationship with Christ, not a national salvation as in the days of Abraham, Moses, or David. We as Christians are accountable for our sins, no one elses. I John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John was not talking to a nation, but individuals. Nowhere does it say that we are to confess our brothers sins...! 1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every mans work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: It is evident in this passage as well that every mans work will be judged....not the works of a nation or someones lineage. Let me ask, should we confess all the sins of our ancestors from 100 generations ago? What if we miss one? Will we be destroyed due to the missed unconfessed sin of one member of my ancestoral heritage? Not so. I am responsible for my sins, you are responsible for your sins. You get rewarded for your good deeds, I get rewarded for my good deeds. I dont suffer for your sins, and you dont suffer for my sins. My ancestors died and went to heaven or hell based solely upon their individual trust or lack thereof in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross...THEIR TRUST OR LACK THEREOF, and their lack of trust in Jesus or their involvement in the occult or witchcraft or devil worship, has no effect upon me. When I trust Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, ALL MY SINS, past, present, and future are totally and completely forgiven, and I have been cleansed from ALL unrighteousness of my past. There may be condemnation from the devil concerning my ancestors, but I will not suffer punishment or judgement or condemnation due to their actions. Romans 8:1 says, There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. In Revelation 3:20, Jesus said, Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him and will sup with him and he with Me... Jesus knocks on your hearts door, not the door of a nation or tribe or kindred or people. If YOU open your hearts door, Jesus will come in. Our salvation has nothing to do with what choices someone else makes. If a nation is sinful, believe me, there are remnants of true, born-again believers everywhere, and just like Shadrach, Meshech, and Abednego, who did not bow down and worship the idol of gold, as the others in the nation were doing, THEY WERE SPARED in the burning fiery furnace~~!!!!!! God spared them due to THEIR obedience and THEIR dedication to the Almighty God,...NOT the nation. Everyone else bowed, but they did not...did this convict and condemn them? Absolutely not. They were responsible and answered for their own decisions, regardless of what the nation of Israel did. Bottom line: We are responsible for our own lives, and no one elses. I am responsible for my sins, not yours....You are responsible for your sins, not mine.
