Jeremiah 5 That there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts Jeremiah 5: 20Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying, 21Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: 22Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? 23But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. 24Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. It is amazing to me that these people have experience and seen the prophecies of God come to pass and yet they choose to ignore God warning and instructions. The Jews had turn the worship of God in to a religion. They would come out to service, read the bible and perform whatever service that is required of them but their heart was not in it. It is much like today in the church world. I have had to speak to a well-known respected leaders concerning there theology. Not for anything would they hear the “Word of God”. Today inn Trinidad and Tobago it is hard press to find a church that teaches the entire Bible and does not have influences from the “social sciences” area. They have combined psychology and market strategies in order to add to their Sunday morning roster rather than to grow the church by “nutrition”. Pastors and leaders now have “celebrity type” status and pride fills their heart. Preaching a sermon now require you to have the gift of entertaining the crowd by whatever means necessary. Hence the Church situation is a modern day replica of Israel back in Jeremiahs’ time. The leaders of the church also reject the “Word of God”. They dis-respect God in their sermon by preaching “you can create your future by faith”. It seems that they think God answers to them, as if God has to carry out their demands (the name-it-and-claim-it group or blab-it and-grab-it). They also have warnings concerning an impending judgment and the return of Jesus Christ (Rapture) and yet, they reject God counsel as found in the “Word of God”. Even this afternoon I was witnessing to “Christian” about the coming of Jesus and they still do not think Jesus is near. I looked at them and this scripture came to mind: 2 Peter 3: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
