Jessie Magdaleno: You will see a lot of power on Saturday night World rated super bantamweight Jessie Magdaleno of Las Vegas said “…you will see a lot of power, timing and speed on Saturday night” on Media Day at the Top Rank Gym on Thursday. Magdaleno, 19-0, 16 KOs, is taking on Erik Ruiz, 13-1, 8 KOs, of Oxnard, Ca. in the main event on Top Rank’s Solo Boxeo Tecate boxing card at the Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel in Las Vegas. Magdaleno said “I’m ready to fight, to win, then fight for a world title. I want to prove to everyone that I will soon be a world champion.” Trainer Joel Diaz added “…there isn’t a 122 pounder in the world who can beat Jessie right now. He is punching and hitting so hard. He has it all together.” Super welterweight Rodrigo Garcia, 16-0, 11 KOs, of Santa Ana, Ca. was at the workout as well. He said “I’m in top condition and ready for my fight.” He takes on Jailton DeJesus, 13-2, 11 KOs, of Brazil in the opening UniMas televised bout. Undefeated Victor Pasillas of East Los Angeles shook out at Media Day, saying he is “completed prepared” to take on Karl Garcia, 4-3, 1 KO, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Pasillas is managed by Cameron Dunkin and trained by Brian Schwartz. First bell is 6:30 pm. The televised bouts begin 8 pm. Tickets are $50, $25 plus applicable fees and are available on Ticketmaster and at the Texas Station box office.
