Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrew 13:8(NIV) This time of year in our region of the country the weather is so unpredictable! Thursday and Friday of last week we endured upper 30s, wind, and rain for those two days. Dreary and miserable to us all were those days. Then came Saturday, Sunday, and today!! Sunshine and 70s all three days! Yet, we all know that tomorrow we could be back at 40 degrees, rain, and wind. So unpredictable! When we look around our world the is so much that is unpredictable and uncontrollable that one could easily have great concern on a variety of fronts! Uncertainty abounds with each new day in ways that can rob one of their sense of security and stability! Then we read Hebrews 13:8 and are quickly reminded that while so much is up for grabs in our world each day the character and mission of Jesus is not! Who the Lord is and what He does will always be consistent and dependable! When everything seems unstable in your life, when so much seems to be coming unraveled, when you feel that no one can be trusted, there is One who is ALWAYS the same and who will never leave our side! Whats more is that this Person is not just anyone! No, it is the Lord Himself who remains constant and who stands with you 24/7/365!! He does not turn up MIA when things are tough! He doesnt just decide to change because it is convenient for Him to do so! He is ALWAYS there and He is ALWAYS the same! May the character of the Lord hold you in good standing each day in a world that seems to have lost its way. In a world full of the unexpected may His consistent faithfulness hold you steady. Great is Thy Faithfulness is one of those old hymns whose lyrics are never outdated. Read the lyrics of those three stanzas and may their truth penetrate you and bring to your heart the assurance we all need and enjoy!
