“Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Consider the awesomeness of the REQUEST the ten lepers made of Jesus. They did not ask for anything except mercy. Although all have sinned, the ten were marked by the color of their skin. By law, they had to cry out “unclean! Unclean!” when others passed by. When Jesus saw the lepers, He saw sin all over them. Although they were unclean, Jesus kept walking in their direction. He saw their condition. He talked to them, had mercy and healed them. The lepers’ sin that was on display, but many of us fade into the background with our sin. Since we did it, a request for mercy is a reasonable request. We need the Lord to have mercy on us. “Jesus, Master, any way you bless me. Have mercy on me right now.” One leper turned around and came back on his own accord to say thank you. Jesus was expecting all of them to come back to glorify God: “…where are the nine?” The nine kept going toward the priest. One returned to worship the Savior. God is expecting you to come back to Him and say thank you for what He has done. He saw you in your sins and had mercy. God keeps doing for you time and time again. Turn and give Him some glory and some praise. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. We were on the outside, but God brought us in again. He had mercy. Come to His house. He is expecting you. – E. R. Pierson, from “Reasonable Expectations to an Answered Request” Luke 17:11-19
