Jesus is pure and sinless. And he is also a peacemaker at heart. As righteous and holy as he is, he is kind, gentle and forgiving of heart. He yielded when his crucifixion was demanded by the Jewish leaders. And when his brutal death sentence was carried out by the Roman soldiers, he was merciful and called for his Father to forgive them. By living in this both-and way, he shows us what true wisdom is. His brother James writes and tells us that this kind of wisdom is true wisdom for us too! But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness (James 3:17-18, NLT). Our reading for Saturday, November 22, is Ezekiel 35:1 - 36:38, Psalm 131:1-3, Proverbs 29:2-3 and James 3:1-18.
