Jesus “stood and cried” (John 7,37). That was very unusual. No rabbi of Israel stood. Usually Jesus did not stand either, but sat to teach, as in the boat and on the mount. People stood in the presence of rabbi teachers out of respect, at least. Jesus is here acting not as a teacher, but as a king standing to give a new decree. When Jesus spoke “it was done, he commanded and it stood fast” (Psalm 33,9). By His word the heavens were made, and now by His word, a new day of wonder and blessing dawns; a new spiritual fact merges. The Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, yields Himself to those who yield themselves to Him (Acts 2:1-4). We are still in the Day of Salvation. God bless you. REINHARD BONNKE
