Claims that four billion Jews (with a b not an m) were killed by the Romans in the city of Bethar. Gittin 58a claims that 64 million Jewish children were wrapped in Torah scrolls and burned alive by the Romans. Exact quotation, explanation, along with sources (from their own texts) of the two verses are presented below: * Before we begin, please note that the word Holocaust in Hebrew means the burning of someone (usually children) alive. Its origin dates thousands of years before the the Nazi incident. * The Talmud is a chief set of books on Jewish law. * Gittin is a book in the set of law books that make up the Talmud. [1] Quotation from Gittin 57b: The voice of Jacob: this is the cry caused by the Emperor Vespasian who killed in the city of Bethar four hundred thousand myriads, or as some say, four thousand myriads. EXPLANATION: Notice that the Talmud claims that the Roman Emperor Vespasian killed 400,000 myriads. A myriad is 10,000 individuals. So, 400,000 myriads is 400,000 x 10,000, which equals 4 billion individuals. Needless to say, this is an exaggerated number (propaganda and fear-mongering) that would not work today, but most probably have worked thousands of years ago - when people, or in this case, Jews were much less educated. [2] Quotation from Gittin 58a: Rab Judah reported Samuel as saying in the name of Rabban Simeon b. Gamaliel; What is signified by the verse, Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city? There were four hundred synagogues in the city of Bethar, and in every one were four hundred teachers of children, and each one had under him four hundred pupils, and when the enemy entered there they pierced them with their staves, and when the enemy prevailed and captured them, they wrapped them in their scrolls and burnt them with fire. EXPLANATION: In this paragraph, when Emperor Hadrian attacked, it states that the city of Bethar had: 400 Synagogues. In each Synagogue, there were 400 teachers, Each of the 400 teachers in the 400 Synagogues had 400 students (children) - who were burnt, in a Holocaust. So, the number of [burnt] while wrapped in Torah scrolls are 400x400x400= 64,000,000 (64 million). Furthermore, the world population benchmark, at the time, is estimated to have been around 360 million. So, 64 million Jews children being killed amounts to 18% (almost one-fifth) of the world population. Could you imagine if this was a modern attack and it killed 18% of our 7 billion population, which would amount to 1,244,444,444 casualties. (Exact link with population estimate is provided below). Notice, the number of 64 million ignores the 160,000 (400 x 400) Jewish teachers supposedly also killed. Besides the 64 million students, how could there have also been an additional 4 billion Jews killed, when the world population is estimated to have been 360 million (maximum)? Also, notice, how it was mentioned that the Romans went through the trouble or wrapping the Jewish children with Torah scrolls, as a way to arouse even greater anger from Jewish readers, and sympathy from non-Jewish listeners. The exaggerated numbers were most-likely to give the Jews the sense that they were so great in numbers but most of their ancestors and loved ones were killed, by the billions, and so they were reduced to such a small population and possibly to instill a sense of guilt in the non-Jews. And, how could they, in the second century, provide a fire in that is so large, so sustainable to burn up 64 million children? Also, in both cases, when the killing of 4 billion or 64 billion, how big was the Roman army in each incident? What technology did they use to round up, control and execute such record numbers? - Moral of the [two] stories is: The Jews have a historical (and religious tradition) of making up tales and exaggerating their stories of oppression to fool their people into feeling that they were/ are victimized and oppressed throughout history. Another objective would to win sympathy from other groups from baseless, twisted or exaggerated stories. Sadly, we can still see that, today. - My, how little has changed. Would it be possible that they conveniently lied-or-exaggerated [again] about the Nazi holocaust? Im going to look into that.
