Job 2 : 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. The choice of my devotions at times lives me in surprise. Todays choice of scripture also surprised me, but i just thought of helping brethren who are in a bad situation. It is my desire to built all weather Christians, not only those who believe because they are on the better side of life. Life at times throws us to the deep end where we are left with no one and nothing to lean on. It is at this time that we seek the Job character in us to come out and help us out. Will a person serve God when his or her storybook life turns tragic and tragedy. i always thought of faith as a buffer, a cushion that would protect us from the sharp edges of life. But when one of those sharp edges penetrates my faith and pierce my flesh, thats when the question begins, and thats when i made a shattering discovery, You can trust God and still get hurt. Job is suffering precisely because he is a good man. He discovered that you can serve God perfectly and still suffer. If Job had been a great sinner, we would say, well there is justice in the world after all. All i want to say dear is, serving God is and will never be a guarantee for a trouble free life. You might serve God with all your heart, pay your tithe and offerings diligently and attend all prayer meetings, but its not passport to an accident freelife. One day disaster shall strike and it is Gods desire that we answer like Job, shall we receive only good from God without receiving bad as well. A blessed day to you the church of Christ, stay blessed and love you all.
