Job Listing: Junior Penguin Wrangler. Location: Ice-Station Quellette, Antarctica; position to commence immediately. Duties: Assisting scientific and photography staff in long-term penguin study; managing names and identities of up to 800 individual penguins, and maintaining excellent working relationships with said penguins. Skill required: Skilled, in-situ aviary care in harsh weather conditions, excellent penguin face recognition; attention to detail as careful notes must be taken on a daily basis. Ability to cooperate and thrive in a claustrophobic social atmosphere. Caveats: Antarctic temperatures can plummet to −30°C. Outerwear will be provided.
