Job Opportunity for graduates living (or wanting to live) in Rhode Island The Trauma & Psychopathology Research Group at the Providence VAMC and the Warren Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University is looking to fill a full-time research assistant position - see below for details: Summary of Position The Research Assistant will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of a federally funded treatment study to prevent suicide behavior in veterans. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a novel, 6-month intervention to reduce suicide behavior in veterans who have recently been hospitalized for suicide behavior. The Research Assistant will recruit and schedule subjects and actively follow-up to assure long-term participation; explain procedures to research subjects and secure consent; enter data; and manage the payment process. He or she will also administer select interviews and measures to subjects and oversee and manage data collection. Other responsibilities may include supervising undergraduate volunteers, preparing written and oral reports on project status, and assisting with the preparation of other key documents (e.g. IRB forms). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications The position requires excellent writing skills; initiative, flexibility, the ability to work independently, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Specific requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or equivalent combination of education & experience • 2-year commitment strongly preferred • Prior experience assisting to coordinate research studies • Strong attention to detail • Strong organizational & analytical skills and aptitude for details • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple requests, and keep a positive attitude • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel in particular) • Ability to work in a diverse work environment • Ability to clearly and respectfully communicate with other study staff, patients, and inpatient clinical staff.
