It serves all branches of science and the humanities. Its membership consists of German research universities, non-university research institutions, scientific associations and the Academies of Science and the Humanities. In 2002, the DFG opened its first North America office in Washington, D.C. A New York City office followed in 2007. The mission of both offices is to promote research in Germany, facilitate research cooperation between North America and Germany, and to support young German researchers on a DFG-fellowship during their stay. * American Friends of Bucerius (AFB) The American Friends of Bucerius (AFB) is an American non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting the goals of Bucerius Law School and the ZEIT Foundation by enhancing international legal education through student exchange, visiting professorship programs, executive education programs, as well as conferences and events. AFB, Bucerius Law School, and the ZEIT Foundation share the vision of altering legal education as to meet the demands of a rapidly globalizing world. From its inception, Bucerius has placed strong emphasis on the United States which is reflected in the large number of American partner universities, corporate associates, and alumni based in North America. AFB assists Bucerius in carrying out its mission by strategically developing and guiding its activities in the country and beyond, and strives to strengthen the relationship between Germany and the United States. AFB was founded in 2006 and is based in New York City. The organization is qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Position The Executive Assistant / Events Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for providing administrative and general support to the American Friends of Bucerius, as well as the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) NYC in equal parts (20 hours / week each). Responsibilities: * Coordinate travel planning, including making flight, hotel and car reservations as appropriate; * Provide support by scheduling meetings, reserving meeting rooms, preparing meeting materials, and preparing travel and expense reports; * Provide administrative support, to include but not limited to phone service, faxing, filing, copying, mail distribution and office supply management; * Ensure excellent customer service by providing timely and accurate information to all stakeholders as needed; * Assistant in event management and activities. Selection Criteria: * Undergraduate degree highly desirable * High degree of professionalism required -Experience in the scheduling and managing of special events * Advanced experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Social Media: Twitter, Facebook a plus * Experience with database management helpful -Ability to take initiative; self-starter * Strong oral and written communication skills * Very good English and German language skills * Strong planning and organizational skills * Dependable and consistent Compensation and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience.
