COUNCIL OF AGENCIES SERVING SOUTH ASIANS (CASSA) 2401 Eglinton Avenue East Suite 212 Toronto, Ontario M1K 2N8 Email: [email protected] Website: cassa.on.ca Job Posting Project Coordinator (Part Time Short Term Contract) Short term Contract: 25 hours per week Start & End Dates: 5 month contract (August to December 2014) Salary: $20 to $25 per hour based on qualification and experience RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate a community awareness and education project about changes to laws related to immigration and refugee protection in the GTA and in Windsor. Organize training sessions for service providers, media and faith leaders about the topic Develop and implement a we based training sessions Organize Forums that focus on discussing the various changes and the services available Outreach and recruit participants for various aspects of the project Research and develop web content for the topic, to add to the website section of the project Supervise teams of volunteers and part time staff involved in the projects Produce the final report for the project capturing the learning Attend various meetings to represent CASSA and its mandate Support CASSA and its team in its ongoing activities promoting social and economic justice. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience; Previous experience in staff supervision is a requirement Experience working with community members, community organizations and agencies to address issues faced by newcomers, immigrants and racialized communities Sound understanding of, and experience working for, access and equity in community programs Demonstrated ability engaging stakeholders and integrating their input/ feedback into projects; Demonstrated project management and implementation skills, including the management of external consultants/stakeholder groups, and meeting multiple project deadlines; Understanding of challenges experienced by intermediaries who work with immigrant communities Strong leadership skills: integrity, ability to build trust of others; ability to deliver results; Excellent communication, facilitation, planning, organizational and time management skills Experience working from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist and anti-homophobic perspective Awareness of systemic barriers faced by immigrants and refugees; either from first-hand experience, work and/or educational experience Willingness to occasionally travel within the GTA and a few times to Windsor Ability to speak one or more South Asian languages an asset Deadline for applications is Friday, Aug 1 till 4pm.
