Secures gifts and grants for the Library and Library Foundation through a fundraising strategy that includes individual, corporate and foundation giving, special events, and planned giving. Responsible for donor database management. Knowledge of principles, concepts and methods of communications and fundraising. 2. Knowledge of CCPL policies, procedures and priorities, and knowledge of the goals and objectives of individual, corporate and foundation funders. 3. Knowledge of typical fundraising software and manipulation of data for reporting. 4. Knowledge of principles of supervisory management and ability to review work of subordinate for completeness and accuracy. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to supervise staff and evaluate work performance, and establish project priorities, manage multiple deadlines. 7. Ability to demonstrate proficient use of personal computer software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job, which may include (but not be limited to) Raisers Edge software, email/calendar software, internet/intranet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, and various systems or software used by CCPL. 8. Ability to operate typical office equipment. 9. Ability to work under the pressure of conflicting priorities, competing demands and under tight deadlines. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Complies with Cuyahoga County Public Librarys policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, requirements, standards, and practices applicable to the job, including (but not limited to) work scheduling and attendance, customer service, use of Library property, computer use, personal conduct, and confidentiality. 2. Assists in preparing annual and long-range development plans to meet the financial objectives of the Library and Library Foundation, including fundraising goals, strategies, timetables, and assigned responsibilities. 3. Develops annual Development budget, monitors the budget and approves expenditures. 4. Hires, supervises and evaluates work performance of key personnel within the Development Department. 5. Collaborates with Executive Director and Capital Campaign Consultant on capital campaign implementation. 6. Actively develops and manages a portfolio of prospects, including research, personal engagement and cultivation, solicitation, closing of gifts, and donor stewardship. 7. Designs and implements a donor relations plan to acknowledge, recognize, and steward donors; establishes metrics to evaluate donor relations activities against measurable objectives. 8. Maintains up-to-date donor database. 9. Directs the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports; prepares the Library to receive gifts and grants in congruence with mission in a deadline-driven environment. 10. Oversees special fundraising events. 11. Consults on fundraising plans and activities of Foundation Board and Library groups. 12. Works with Division staff on all related marketing, communication and event materials. 13. Develops appropriate reporting systems, produces reports, and evaluates programs and activities for accountability and success. 14. Oversees and evaluates work of department staff and is responsible for monitoring, reviewing work for completeness and accuracy. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned. Ability to work with colleagues and to gain consensus and commitment for ideas, plans and goals. 9. Ability to use donor database spreadsheet software. 10. Demonstrated ability to solicit and close major gifts. 11. Experience working with Boards and volunteers. 12. Innovative self-starter. 13. Demonstrated leadership and supervision skills. Summary Minimum Education & Experience Required 1. BA/BS required; Masters degree preferred. 2. More than five years of development experience, including major gift and planned giving programs, corporate and foundation giving, and a proven track record closing gifts greater than $100,000. 3. Proficiency with fundraising software required, Raisers Edge preferred. OTHER TESTING/LICENSES REQUIRED 1. License A valid drivers license, reliable personal transportation and in-force automobile insurance. 2. A criminal background check is required, as are pre-employment drug and nicotine screens. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Occasional exposure to minor discomforts of outside weather conditions when traveling. 2. Occasional minor discomforts from continuous use of a computer terminal. 3. Attendance at evening/weekend meetings or programs may be required.
