Job Title: Programmer Analyst, Business Intelligence virginiajobnetwork/jo/3940455/2160701 Company: US Marine Corps Experience: 3 to 5 years Salary: $65,000-$80,000 Job Location: Quantico, VA Position Description Develops and supports business intelligence (BI) reporting applications. Designs and develops reports using BI application. Creates metadata models, layers, and packages using BI tools. Create memos, reports, diagrams, presentations, and other material using Microsoft Office Suite. Validates report content for accuracy before release to users; investigates and resolves data issues. Develops test scripts and user acceptance test plans. Ensures all project-related documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and current. Troubleshoots and improves performance of BI reports. Provides technical support and troubleshooting for BI-related issues. Creates and maintains documentation of operating procedures, application designs and architecture. Prepares technical design documents for new applications or features. Provides ad-hoc customer support in information and reporting services. Identifies system objectives, functions, and customer requirements. Works in a team environment, maintains technical proficiency with designated tools, and performs all tasks in accordance with MCCS procedures and practices. As necessary for project or when requested by management, learns new tools and technologies to support the mission of the organization. Performs all tasks in accordance with priorities set by the supervisor and adjusts work pace in accordance with supervisor instructions and work deadlines. Provides prescribed technical documentation for requirements, change requests, technical specifications, and work status reports as required. Works with MCCS employees from a variety of business units to train and support them in the direct use of the BI platform. Evaluates hardware and software options for application development. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND three years of practical experience with development and implementation of an enterprise BI tool (preferably Cognos,) OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Must have hands-on experience working with relational databases and SQL. Knowledge of Data warehousing concepts (ETL, data marts, staging). Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (normalization, star schema) and have experience in designing, building and deploying data warehousing solutions. Practical experience in ETL tools, preferably Oracle Warehouse Builder. Experience developing reporting catalogs/dictionary designs and analysis. Experience in conducting data profiling exercises for researching quality of data a must. Experience designing, developing, testing (unit/system/black box/white box), and implementing solutions around Data Quality Life Cycle (DQLC). Consistent experience with full life cycle projects. Ability to conduct complex technology and system assessments during design sessions. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work on a team, as this position will require extensive work with other developers and business users. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, be flexible, self-starter, ability to solve problems, develop solutions, multi-task and maintain deadlines for development initiatives is preferred.
