The Community Based Care (CBC) Westside Residence Hall (WRH) Program Coordinator, a position located within the West Los Angeles VA Community Care Service Line, is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating VA services available to patients of the WRH facility. The WRH is a transitional residential community facility in Inglewood, California established to assist homeless veterans. The WRH is directed by L.A. VETS, a community partnership that includes the WLA VA Medical Center. One element of the WLA CBCs role in the partnership is to provide VA clinical staff to work with the over 300 veteran resident of the WRH. All residents are veterans, with most residents manifesting substance abuse problems and/or a mental illness. MAJOR DUTIES: • Coordinates treatment team in selecting veterans who will meet the admission criteria and participate in program goals • Tracks the daily census of the per diem program so as to allow an independent verification of all requests for per diem payment. • Insures that daily clinical program activities, groups, classes are planned, organized, coordinated and implemented. • Tracks progress of residents. • Provides coordination, training and consultation to interns and staff • Assists in planning the monitoring of quality improvement assurance/activities • Provides data collection and recording of clinical and psychosocial database. • Manages funds assigned to the program • Ascertains community needs via contact with leadership staff in community health clinics, social, cultural, and religious agencies and within the private health sector. • Develops screening and procedural mechanisms to identify and locate homeless veterans with in a primary service area • Develops a systematic plan for reviewing and appraising the effectiveness of the program. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: 007890 ________________________________________ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-09) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team; Coordinates, tracks, and reports on program goals and participant treatment; Monitors quality improvement; manages funding of a program; and develops and maintains effective working relationships with community agencies and organizations. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-11 level. You must possess 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-11 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-11.
