Job Vacancy: Temporary EducationUSA Program Coordinator Ashgabat, Turkmenistan Position Description American Councils is looking for a candidate to fill the vacancy of Temporary EducationUSA Program Coordinator in the Ashgabat office. This full-time position will start in September, 2014 and last through February, 2015. This position will have three key responsibilities: • Overseeing activities and overall operation of the Ashgabat EducationUSA Advising Center (EAC); • Organizing Fall 2014 U.S. Higher Education Fair(s) and related events; • Organizing a series of Winter U.S. Higher Education workshops in all regions of Turkmenistan. EducationUSA is a global network of more than 400 advising centers supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. EducationUSA Centers promote U.S. higher education around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, impartial, and timely information about U.S. educational opportunities. This position reports to the Country Director and the South and Central Asia EdUSA Regional Education Advising Coordinator (REAC) but also works in close cooperation with American Councils colleagues in Ashgabat, the three regional American Corners, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Embassy. The position also supervises the EAC Assistant. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensuring continued operation of the Ashgabat EducationUSA Advising Center (EAC); • Collecting and submitting grant, statistical, and progress reports to stakeholders; • Providing basic presentations, advice, and technical feedback on applying to U.S. institutions; • Leading all organizational and logistical aspects of a Fall 2014 U.S. Higher Education Fair(s) and a series of Winter U.S. Higher Education Workshops in each region of Turkmenistan; • Coordinating all Fair and Workshop planning with U.S. Embassy, U.S. college and university, American Councils staff, and EdUSA stakeholders both inside and outside Turkmenistan; • Developing the schedule for both events and coordinating the staff to support the events; • Coordinating travel (including international) and logistical planning for the Fair and Workshops; • Developing and implementing a marketing strategy to ensure high attendance at these events; • Performing other related duties as required and assigned by the Country Director or REAC. QUALIFICATIONS: • Strong project management, logistics, budget, organizational, and problem solving skills; • Strong writing, communication, cross-cultural, and interpersonal skills; • Strong English and Turkmen language skills (also having Russian preferred); • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute to a team effort • Knowledge of the U.S. higher education system and structure (experience in it preferred) • Strong MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and general internet skills; • Undergraduate degree required.
