Tracing the history of Rugare Gumbo since the liberation struggle he always said that Mugabe is such a power hungry individual whom people must not allow anywhere near power. He warned people 4 decades ago that Mugabe is despotic and is prepared to kill for power. He warned people that if they dont stop him then they will die crying. It took long and incessant efforts to persuade Rugare Gumbo to be back in ZANU PF. They wanted to keep him under close monitoring by sweet talking him back to ZANU PF in 2000 fearing that he might join the MDC like what some of his straight talking veterans of our liberation struggle like Dr. Tichaona Mudzingwa and Happison Nenji did. But still he remained to his character that when Mugabe thought that he is dragging him down the dungeon to finish him off, Rugare Gumbo is shouting back with vernom. He described the purported congress as a circus congregated by praise singing idiots. Thats the spirit Cde Gumbo. You cant be kicked down and expect you to keep quite. Blow for blow, pound for pound. Your 1978 statement proves to be more prophetic than all prophecies done in our country for decades. Truly Mugabe is a liability to Zimbabwe.
