Job for Aspiring Company:General Manager Position: Reports to: Board of Directors and/or Executive Committee Purpose: The General Manager (GM) bears overall responsibility for the Company’s performance including, but not limited to, profitability, business development and deal sourcing/origination, corporate governance standards, overall management and attainment of financial goals as established and approved by the Board of Directors. The GM will work closely with Ijmal’s staff to provide mentorship and direction to achieve organizational goals. Importance of Role: Critical & strategic Key Relationships: Clients&prospectiveclients Market competitors Vendors / Service providers EngineeringConsultants Regulatoryagencies Legal counsel Shari’ahsupervisoryboard Banks Key Responsibilities Drives revenue generation for the Company through business development, client relationship management and securing deals that meet the financial and underwriting goals of the Company Oversees all aspects of the Company’s performance, including maximization of financial returns/profits, control/manage/minimize operating and credit losses, portfolio management, cost control and staff development within established service levels and quality standards Provide leadership and vision to the organization by assisting the Board and staff with the development of a long-term strategic plan, and with the evaluation and reporting of progress on plan Establish, implement and manage service quality standards, including inter-department service-level agreements and ensure optimum service quality is delivered to customers Ensure product programs and service remain aligned with market needs through regular and constant review as well as improvement and enhancement Promote awareness of the Company’s products and processes to achieve origination targets Work with Risk department to manage distress and early-warning cases in the portfolio Ensuring that the Company implements and abides by industry best practice and governance standards Ensuring compliance with all relevant local regulations and reporting requirements Final approval and sign off on all client forms and contracts used by the Company’s team to ensure adequate risk management practices Dealing with apportionment and adequate segregation of responsibilities among the Company’s employees, establish clear reporting lines that consider the nature, scale and complexity of Ijmal’s business activities Overseeing the establishment and maintenance of systems and controls Review of financial and operating reports prior to sharing with the Board of Directors and Investors, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data within these reports. Final approval on candidates for recruitment Work with the Board to approve wage, bonus and commission schedules in line with budget and operating constraints Qualification & Experience Prerequisites Minimum Education / Qualifications o Bachelors degree in Engineering / Business Administration/ Finance o MBA Degree with specific focus on Finance/ Post-graduate qualification in finance Minimum years of experience o 10 years+ of experience in real estate development/construction and/or finance sector, with at least 5 years management experience in a leadership role with people management and business management o 5 years experience in real estate finance, with hands-on understanding of the real estate development process and cycle OR 5 years commercial experience in real estate construction (mainly for residential) with hands-on understanding of real estate finance Language & Other: o Bi-lingual in Arabic and English (written and spoken) o Computer proficient, including MS Excel Person Specification Essential: Well connected and known in the KSA real estate development industry Experience in developing, implementing & managing business plans and goals Negotiation & selling skills along with client relationship/customer service skills and demonstrated understanding and application of effective business development & selling strategies and techniques Strong & proven leadership, motivation and managerial skills with people management skills and the ability to develop a fast-paced goal-driven working environment Superior presentation/public speaking skills Judgment and decision-making ability Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards with a professional demeanour Demonstrated competency in budgeting, forecasting and planning Demonstrated competency in hiring, developing and evaluating employees to achieve corporate and personal objectives Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), and negotiating skills Problem-solving and analytical ability and strong project management and multi-tasking skills Motivated self-starter, comfortable in fast-paced environment and superior organizational skills Proven history in developing and implementing incentive plans to increase sales and improve profitability Thorough understanding of construction and real estate development processes and practices, and the impact of such on the financial, execution, timing and staffing aspects of real estate projects Possesses strong knowledge of local market and industry trends Ability to work with people of various backgrounds both externally and internally Strong attention to detail Desirable: Experience in Shari’ah principles and financing/investment structures Understanding of real estate finance under mezzanine structures
