Job opening in Middle East Studies at AUB The Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (CAMES) American University of Beirut Beirut, Lebanon The Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (CAMES) at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a full-time position in Middle East studies with a focus on the contemporary Arab world. We expect to hire at the assistant professor level. The position will begin September 1, 2014. The successful candidate will offer a broad interdisciplinary Introduction to Middle East Studies course and a Theories and Methods course for our MA students. Ability to teach courses on the history/politics of Lebanon and other Arab countries and/or the political economy of the Arab world is a plus. Other duties will include assisting the CAMES director with curriculum development, advising MA students, and coordinating CAMES-related events. Candidates should have completed their PhD in Middle East studies or a relevant field before that time, have teaching experience, hold promise of original scholarship, and be interested in working in a liberal arts environment. Fluency in Arabic is expected.
