Job opportunity for pre-health students: We are a large surgical neuro-ophthalmology practice with one physician, two offices, and 80 employees. We are looking for a medical entering to assist in documenting patient encounters. In this position, you will transcribe written physician comments during clinical patient encounters into EMRs using appropriate medical terminology. Dr. McHenry is principally looking for an individual with a premedical background. This position is designed for a student taking a gap year before medical school who may be looking for an experience in a private practice clinic. Responsibilities: - Ensuring accuracy of chart notes and verbatim transcription of encounters - Ensuring confidentiality and ease of transition from patient to patient - Coordinating with assigned technicians and medical records personnel to assist the physician in maintaining scheduled appointments - Listening thoroughly and attentively throughout the encounter - Ensuring use of appropriate medical terminology in charting - Ensuring quality of chart note and coding Requirements: - Experience in using and understanding medical terminology - Patient interface experience in clinical setting - Extensive computer experience with EMR systems - Knowledge of Medicaid and other insurance protocols - Clinic hours vary.
