Jobs Continuing Struggle (Job 14-17) Jobs struggles continues. Initially unmoved by terrifying tests that most would destroyed the best of us. But continues testing starts to take its toll on him. His friends unceasing attacks were more than he could handle. Now we see him wilting under the heat of false accusation from his friends. They accuse him of being evil, unjust and a liar whos fallen under divine disfavour. Gods silence also affected him. He wanted some answers but there was none that came. Last night I wrote about Jobs faith in God. He looked up to him. Those immortal words, Though he slay me I will trust in him. Nice words. But these mindset does not work in the long run. It may for a short while, but you cannot see God as the enemy and live. Was God Jobs enemy? For Job he was. He caused him pain. He killed his children, took his wealth, and now his name. He has lost everything because God took them all. Can you handle this? I know I cant. Job who is a hundred times better than I handled it well initially, but in the process, he crumbles. One cant look at God as the enemy and live. Job chapters 1-2 and 38-42 provide the key. God is not the enemy. The enemy is a malevolent evil who seeks to destroy our faith in God. For some unexplainable reason God allows this enemy to test us. But he does not leave us. He stays with us through our pain and trials - giving us the grace we need to know him more deeply and be transformed to his likeness. Join me smile and praise God today. He is mysterious in his ways, but we rest assured that he is good all the time, no matter what happens. PD
