Joe Eastwood 6 mins Brigadier Paul A E Nanson MBE I hope this does not embarrass him but I have always believed in giving credit where it is due. Colonel ( Lancashire) is like a breath of fresh air. Modest, articulate, charming and ,probably most importantly, willing to leave the VIP luncheons etc ( to where he has been syphoned off by sycophants), to mix freely and engage in real genuine conversation with those who are the real VIPs, ie, our increasingly elderly veterans. Well done Sir. The only others I saw doing the same were Phillip Manville and David Hoyle, well done to those two as well. To any other Regimental Officer, serving or retired, may I make a plea that you get amongst the lads rather than simply plonking yourself at the head of the marching column and then disappearing? In conversation with Colonel Lancashire he told me that the plan for the Regiment is that we will have one Regular Battalion, plus one Reserve Battalion.( The Reserve Bn to be based in the North East) The short title for the Regular Battalion will be First Fusiliers, the short title for the Reserve battalion is being decided as I type. This may clear up some confusion amongst those who were worried that the title of the Regiment may change, it is not so, the full Regimental title will remain as The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers A great Gallipoli and thanks to those who worked so hard to make it happen, the pics show how much the public appreciated and applauded our parade.
