Does great tragedy make an artist a better or otherwise more influential artist? Why? My thought is yes, as the artist who suffers peeks into a part of their being that most do not, and by virtue impacts those who consume their works as somehow being more knowledgeable, or having keener insight, into a darker, secretive side of human nature that everyone can relate to but few confront.
