Joel Olsteen and other famous renowned preachers are no different than the early Greek Sophists (the Greek word σόφισμα, sophisma (from σοφίζω, sophizo meaning I am wise). Back then, the Sophists used philosophy and rhetoric as tools to sell out their theories for exploitation and money. They were very articulate with their thoughts and eloquent with their speeches to gain public interest. We must be very careful and discern these subtle vipers. 1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
