John 16:7-11 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. The Holy Spirit has always been an integral part of God’s plan to reveal Himself to all people. Today we see Christ revealing that truth in words. It is the Holy Spirit that comes to convict the world of sin: namely their unbelief. Rest assured the Holy Spirit is at work in believing Christians, though His work does not stop there. He is also at work in unbelievers, revealing the fallen state of their own hearts and their need for Jesus Christ. He works to reveal God in everything and bring them to a decision point about Jesus Christ. As Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Relationship with God hinges upon what we decide about Jesus.
