John Game: Quite impressive to swamp the official pro-Putin one. Reading more and more about how Putins real worry is the impact of Ukrainian events at home: looks like there might be a real basis to it. During the Orange revolution there were mass strikes and demonstrations in Russia against privatisation measures. So rather oddly what was an attempt to integrate the Ukraine with the EU sparked a social movement in Russia that forced Putin to slow down privatisation. Not for long of course. Lesson is: inter-imperialist conflict often has contradictory effects on the ground.
