John J Kirkwood Im so tired of hearing this. The why is usually because they played games when they were there and the world had better games and better coffee. The church focused on second rate entertainment and the shallow Christians that left were seeking something that would fill the void, but the intention of these stories is to water down the church even more. Instead of going back to declaring the whole counsel of God and doing it with passion and conviction, they try to Fortune 500 a marketing scheme to entice empty people into empty pews. Heres the skinny: They left and leave for the same reason Demas left: love of the world. Despite Ziermans teenage immersion in conservative Evangelical subculture and early marriage to a Christian, during her 20s, she struggled to connect with other Christians and find a church that offered the attention and acceptance for which she longed.
