John Mills, Georgie Postdown, Mark Coles and others who asked ... Peters condition: It seems to be calming down lately. We went through a spell of him being sent home from school every day after having had an attack. This resulted in us having a BIG chat with him as we felt he was swinging the lead a bit ..... O.K., a lot. Now, Peter is a good kid, he does what hes told for the vast majority of the time, he takes instruction well. One of the leaflets that he had been given to read and understand told him that if he felt an attack coming on then he should just go with it, sit quietly or lie down if he felt he needed to and just let it happen. So he did what the leaflet told him. At the slightest hint of an attack coming on he would go and sit or lie down. Other kids would then go get the nurse and tell the nurse that Peter is having an attack. So the nurse was turning up with preconceptions and peter was tyreated as though he had had a full blown attack and parents were called in to take him home. We told Peter that he needed to have a chat with himself and man up. If he felt an attack coming on, dont go with it, just carry on as normal. So he has been, the result is that in the last three weeks hes had two attacks, proper attacks. One at school and one when he was in the MRI scanner. Hes still having tests done. So far hes had 24hr heart monitoring, 24hr blood pressure monitoring, MRI, psyco assesment and hes currently wearing a heart monitor for three days. If he feels the slightest bit dodgy he has to press the button to register it. at least now we know that theres no lead swinging going on and life has a semblance of normality!
